HCHS - August Rains

Even exciting mornings can get quite dark with a heavy blanket of clouds. Despite her sometimes snappy attitude and nimble feet, Nilla is good with kids. She likes them, and most of the time they like her too.

Paula has always been a bold and smart young girl - she has no trouble telling people what she thinks or what she likes and doesn't like, even when her mother has usually said it isn't polite to be so blunt. She likes to be the in centre of attention. Though perhaps not this much attention, really, because this is a big show. A lot bigger than any she had previously entered. What if she failed? She wasn't that good at jumping yet, and even with the help of her sister and Miss Banker she couldn't help but doubt herself a little.
The morning was bright, but the sky had already been cloudy back then. When her hunter class had begun, it was already raining heavily. It didn't really bother Paula or her pony. She and Nilla had both grown up in the English countryside, after all, and you get used to that kind of stuff in a ten or so years. If anything, it was almost calming. This was just like another riding lesson, really, if Paula shut away the audience and the cameras and the pretty clothes and braids she was wearing. Nilla's braids she liked, though, so she focused on them when it was finally their turn to enter the ring and do their thing.
